To activate: File menu / Settings / General tab
Select a layer to define the extent to which the map view zooms when the Zoom Extent tool is activated. Typically, a layer, such as a county boundary, that defines the perimeter of a mapped area, is selected as the Zoom Extent Layer.
To use:
Open Settings.
On the General tab, scroll down to Zoom Extent Layer.
Click on the far right side of the field to the right of Zoom Extent Layer to reveal a drop down list button.
Click on the drop down list button to view a list of all layers in the project.
Select desired layer.
Select OK.
