GeoSync creates a backup of a layer whenever Edit Layer is activated and places the backup in an auto-generated folder called Datalog. In the event that a layer becomes corrupted or if undesired changes have been made to a layer, a backup can be retrieved from the Datalog. The Datalog folder may include several folders named by the date of when the edit sessions took place. The dated folders will contain the backup layers that were saved when an edit session was activated on that date.
It is important to check the Datalog on a regular basis to assure that there is not an over-abundance of backup files. It is suggested that the user maintain one month’s worth of backup files to keep adequate storage space in the Datalog folder. Other files can be copied onto a disc.
It is also important a Datalog is not shared among GeoSync users. Each GSUser should have a unique Datalog. (see Configure GeoSync). Each new user set up in GeoSync is assigned a Datalog.
To maintain Datalog:
Navigate to the Datalog folder
Select files to keep and copy onto a disc.
Delete unnecessary files
