To activate: Layer Tools / Clean Tools tab
Reports vertices on line features that do not have intersections, by either falling short or extending beyond the point of intersection of two line features.
Dangle (undershoot): A node falls short of an object which it is meant to be connected to. Note: Not all dangles are problems. Roads may dead-end or waterlines may stub off at the end of a line. The tool highlights where lines fall short of another line.
Overshoot: A node lies beyond an object to which it is supposed to be connected to. The tool highlights where lines should be split at intersections, or where overshoots exist.
The variable tolerance A conditional and changeable value that acts as the greatest value allowed for a given function. effectively filters vertices which fall at clean intersections.
To use:
Activate Find Dangles/Undershoots tool.
Specify a selection tolerance and select OK.
GeoSync highlights all features that fall within the specified selection tolerance.
On the Layer Tools dialog, select the Log and Report for information corresponding to the highlighted features.
