GeoSync allows for images to be linked and displayed as either part of the map view or linked to features on Shapefile layers.  GeoSync supports most common image formats.

Background Images:

Aerial photography is commonly used as a Base Map A map depicting geographic features such as landforms, drainage, roads, landmarks, and political boundaries, used for locational reference and often including a geodetic control network as part of its structure. Examples include topographic and planimetric maps. (ESRI Dictionary of GIS Terminology) layer. Aerials as well other background imagery such as scanned topographic maps may be used in GeoSync. Such imagery must be Georeferenced To assign coordinates from a known refernce system, such as latitude/longitude, UTM, or State Plane, to the page coordinates of an image or a planer map. Such a coordinate and scale information is either stored in a separate World File or is imbedded in the image file. using a World File Required in order for GeoSync to correctly display background images such as aerial photographs. The World File has a file extension ending with a "w" and accompanies the image file. For example, an aerial image file formatted as a .sid requires an .sdw file, a .jpg would be accompanyed by a .jgw file, and .gif a .gfw file, etc... or information imbedded in the image file. This feature is also useful when digitizing information from scanned plats.

Link Images to features:

A variety of image types such as digital photos and scanned images can be attached to records. For example, fire hydrant pictures can be linked to fire hydrant features or a scanned image of a plat can be linked to a parcel record. Images can be linked to any field of a Shapefile layer and can also be linked via an external database.  If you desire to track significant photos, please consult MapSync @ (859) 278-6277 or techsupport@mapsync.com
