Enhanced 911 (E911) is a system in which a person dials “911” from a wire line phone. The call connects to a local public safety answering point (PSAP) or dispatch center. The phone number and location of the caller are auto-reported on a display device. The dispatcher can then alert the closest responding agencies, even if the caller is unable to specify their location or the nature of their emergency.
